I knew when I started writing my book that I would need to have some sort of dedication at the front. Ya know, the old “For my wife and kids, you are my everything and without you this book wouldn’t exist!” So I was ready to handle that bit, once I’d handled everything else.
I wasn’t ready for the “acknowledgments”. Ya know, the part of the book wherein the author mentions everyone who helped bring the book to fruition - as far as I know this can be just about anyone who lent a hand in anyway, both professionally (like my editor) or personally (like any friends and family who inspired, or reviewed, the material). And I can be as vague or specific as I want to be, without going too long, of course!
The issue isn’t that I don’t what the acknowledgments section entails, it’s that I totally forgot it existed! My editor reminded me. And then told me it’s due Monday.
So now I’m scrambling, and you get to watch!
